Summerfield woman charged in fatal crash
GREENSBORO - A Summerfield woman was charged Friday in connection with a Jan. 23 crash that killed her passenger.
Christina Marie Finney, 24, of 1016 Hudson Road in Summerfield was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle in the crash that killed 19-year-old Jeanette Clifton, according to arrest warrants.
The Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at 3:37 a.m. that morning across from 5405 N. Church St. north of Plainfield Road.
Troopers say Finney was driving a 1995 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck north on North Church Street when she lost control, ran off the road to the right and struck an embankment.
The truck rolled over as it went airborne, ejected the passenger - Clifton - and hit a tree.
Highway Patrol Sgt. D.B. Garland said neither woman was wearing a seatbelt and that alcohol was not a factor.
Warrants state that Finney was driving careless and reckless, which caused the crash.
She was being held at the Guilford County jail in Greensboro on a $5,000 bond Friday night.
