GREENSBORO - Police say a new schedule for patrol officers will begin Feb. 9.
In August 2008, Chief Tim Bellamy requested a committee to develop a patrol rotation schedule. In November, Bellamy approved the new four-days on, four-days off schedule.
The new schedule includes four permanent 11-hour shifts, which allows for overlap during peak times, according to a news release from the police department. Officers also are assigned court or special assignment days throughout the month.
Moving to a schedule in which officers work four days in a row was among the recommendations of a consultant who studied the police department last year.
