Puppy thrown out 2nd-story window; woman charged

GREENSBORO - A local woman was charged with animal cruelty Sunday, according to magistrate records.

A witness told Greensboro police that Emily Wiggins, of West Meadowview Road in Greensboro, threw a 3-month-old black lab puppy out a second-story window Sunday afternoon, according to arrest records. The incident happened at the Heritage House.

The puppy may have broken a leg, according to police reports.

Wiggins was charged with cruelty to animals and possession of marijuana.

She made her $5,000 bail and was released from Guilford County jail Sunday.

Guilford County animal control officers took custody of the puppy.

This is really sick that anyone could do this. She needs to be held accountable for what she has did and I hope the judge gives her the most severe punishment allowed and that will not be enough.
