High Point University and Guilford County Schools are in partnership discussions. Chris Dudley, a spokesman for the university, said the school system and the HPU are considering several partnerships including the possibility of establishing an early college program at HPU.
"We have had some conversations about a number of collaborative partnership ideas, among them an early college, but none have been finalized," Dudley said.
Schools Superintendent Maurice "Mo" Green declined to say if the district would be expanding its early college offerings to HPU. Green has been tight-lipped about his massive leadership plan for the school district, which will be unveiled Tuesday, but has said the district's magnet school program will be among the items addressed.
"It's a concept I'm a big fan of," Green said. "And will I explore opportunities to expand, absolutely."
There are six programs at area colleges and universities including the Middle College at GTCC in High Point.
