The Guilford County Board of Elections is the latest to begin looking for the winning candidate who has not shown up to claim his office.
Kirk Perkins won a seat in the November election on the county’s Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors, but has not appeared or responded to the election office or the board of supervisors since the victory.
On Feb. 3, the elections board is requesting Perkins’ presence and his treasurer, David Crawford, for questioning.
“I think he ought to be present,” Kathryn Lindley, the board’s Republican member said of Crawford.
Perkins is not the same man as Commissioner C.F. “Kirk” Perkins III , who also ran and won on the same ballot. Seats on the soil and water board are unpaid, and determine how roughly $100,000 will be used for conservation projects.
