Monday, January 12, 2009

CHARLOTTE (AP) — A North Carolina college football player has died from complications of a seizure he suffered while visiting his family during the holidays.

The Charlotte Observer reported today that 20-year-old Stephen Seard's family said he died in Owings Mills, Md., on Saturday. Seard was a junior offensive lineman and engineering student at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte.

Counselors at the university worked through the weekend as students arrived for this week's start of classes.

Seard is survived by his parents, Sidney and Leslie Seard-Rolls.
