New restaurant opens in downtown Greensboro

GREENSBORO - Zen (272-3995), a new restaurant offering Asian cuisine, has opened at 216 S. Elm St. in downtown Greensboro.

The bistro, owned by Rocco Scarfone (Carmine's), offers traditional items such as Miso Soup and Shrimp Tempura complimented by more exotic dishes like the Octopus Bowl and the Aloha Roll (pineapple and tuna tempura). Zen offers a hibachi dinner menu and an extensive sushi menu including 19 rolls and Sushi Bar Combos allowing patrons to create their own. A sake menu includes 20 different varieties, including nine by the glass and four infused flavors.

The restaurant offers intimate candlelit seating and outdoor seating. Lunch will be served sometime in mid-January, but for now dinner hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
