Northern Guilford boys prevail over Page

THIRD PLACE

NO. 3 NORTHERN GUILFORD 63, NO. 4 PAGE 56: Jonathan Frye had 16 points and six rebounds to lead a balanced scoring attack for Northern Guilford in the third-place game at the Pizza Hut Invitational played Saturday at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.

Michael Neal added 13 points, Jacob Lawson scored 10 with nine rebounds and Asad Lamot added nine points.

Mitchell Oates had a tournament-high 30 points on 8-of-12 shooting to lead Page.

FIFTH PLACE

NO. 7 NORTHWEST GUILFORD 70, NO. 5 GRIMSLEY 63: Kyle Vebber scored 15 points and teammate Devin Murphy added 14 to lead Northwest Guilford past Grimsley in the fifth-place game.

Between them, Vebber and Murphy were perfect from beyond the 3-point line. Vebber hit on all three of his attempts while Murphy was four-for-four.

The Vikings shot 66 percent from 3-point range, their best showing of the tournament.

Grimsley's Keith Manley led all scorers with 25 points.

NO. 8 SMITH 69, NO. 6 NORTHEAST GUILFORD 65: The Golden Eagles used an 8-0 third-quarter run to pull away and give coach Brian Jones his first win at the school.

Dashawn Ampley's 16 points led four Smith players in double figures. Jonathon Koger had 10 points and 13 rebounds and Kareem Shaw had eight steals. Antwan Wilkerson had 18 points to lead Northeast.
