Grimsley's girls power past Page in battle for third place

THIRD PLACE

NO. 4 GRIMSLEY 52, NO. 2 PAGE 42: Jordan Lanham scored 15 points and Ashley Lee added 11 as Grimsley beat Page for third place.

Lanham hit all three of her 3-point attempts for Grimsley, which hit 7-of-11 as a team. Page finished 6-of-25 from beyond the arc.

Tifany Lucas, who received the sportsmanship award for the tournament, added eight points and seven rebounds.

Chevena Pickard, who was named to the all-tournament team, led Page with 15 points and seven rebounds.

 

Grimsley (6-7) -- Jordan Lanham 15; Ashley Lee 11; Tifany Lucas 8; Raxanne Henshall 7; Tiana Bowden 5; Denika Harden 5; Andi Cole 1.

fifTH PLACE

NO. 7 SMITH 47, NO. 5 NORTHEAST GUILFORD 37: Zhaquondalee Greer scored 11 points and Ashly Dubose grabbed six rebounds to lead Smith over Northeast Guilford in the fifth-place game.

Greer led a balanced scoring attack. Teammate Katrina Gibson scored nine points, Jantilla Street scored eight and Dubose added six for the Eagles, who never trailed in the game.

Northeast was led by Cherie Bullock, who scored 11 points and added four rebounds.

SEVENTH PLACE

NO. 6 NORTHERN GUILFORD 64, NO. 8 GREENSBORO DAY 36: Vontreece Hayes scored all seven of her points in the first five minutes as the Nighthawks opened the game on a 15-0 run.

Hayes was one of four players with at least seven rebounds for the Nighthawks, who outrebounded the Bengals 47-28. Molly Tahmaseb (eight points, eight rebounds), Sarah Apple (12 points, eight rebounds) and Samantha Coffer (17 points, seven rebounds) were the others. Kristin Rush had 17 points for the Bengals.
