John Terry scored 12 points in the win for the top-seeded Bengals. Smith led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter, but GDS used a 20-6 surge in the second quarter to take control.

NO. 2 RAGSDALE 75, NO. 7 NORTHWEST GUILFORD 64: Jay Canty wasn't about to let Northwest Guilford put a scare in him again. Canty scored 15 of his game-high 23 points in the first half and added 15 rebounds to lead second-seeded Ragsdale over the Vikings for the second time in a month 75-64 Thursday.

Northwest took the Tigers to double overtime earlier in the season but never led in this one and couldn't get closer than arm's length. Wally Jones added 20 points, Josh White 11 and Tyquan Roberts 10. Pat McCarthy had 12 points to lead Northwest, which attempted more than half its shots (31-of-60) from 3-point range.

"We came out a little bit harder this time," said Canty, who scored his 1,000th career point during the game. "You can't mess around with a team that shoots like that."
