GREENSBORO - A 15-year-old boy walking home from a concert with friends suffered life-threatening injuries early Tuesday morning after he was hit by a car, police said.

Damien Mebane, was leaving the Lil Wayne concert at the Greensboro Coliseum shortly after midnight when he was struck by a 1995 Buick Regal traveling north on Freeman Mill road, according to police.

Mebane was dragged about 100 feet, said Officer E.K. Wrenn, a crash reconstructionist with the Greensboro Police Department. He remained in critical condition in the Moses Cone Hospital intensive care unit, Wrenn said.

Police did not identify the Buick's driver and Wrenn said he did not anticipate charging the driver with any crimes. The driver was estimated to be driving about 45 mph, the speed limit and alcohol was not suspected to be involved, Wrenn said.

Police ask anyone with information about the crash to call the Greensboro Police Department at 373-2681.
