Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson is in need of a heart transplant and has been placed on a donor waiting list.

Richardson, 72, has been hospitalized since last week after complaining he didn't feel well. A team spokesman said Wednesday there is no timetable for the surgery.

Richardson has a history of heart trouble and underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2002. Doctors last month installed a pacemaker to control his heart's rhythm.

PANTHERS: Reserve offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges practiced Wednesday, three days after he was arrested for the second time in 16 months on assault charges.

Bridges was deactivated for Monday's win over Tampa Bay, but coach John Fox indicated the team will let the legal process run its course before deciding whether to take disciplinary action.

"We'll keep you posted, but last time I looked you're innocent until proven guilty," Fox said.

Bridges was arrested Sunday and charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of communicating threats in connection with a Saturday disturbance at a Charlotte restaurant.

Bridges was with his wife celebrating their anniversary when he was accused of spraying champagne on other customers and getting into a dispute with an employee.

Bridges' first arrest came a day before training camp started last year, when he was charged and later convicted of pointing a gun at a woman outside a strip club.

REDSKINS: Running back Clinton Portis and coach Jim Zorn held a 10-minute meeting to discuss Portis' comments made during a radio interview Tuesday.

"I had some stuff built up," Portis said. "I was itching to air it out. After we talked, we're on the same page."

COWBOYS: Cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones might miss the rest of the season after injuring his neck.

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Wednesday that Jones will miss Sunday's game against the New York Giants because of a herniated disk.

GIANTS: An arrest warrant has been issued for former New York Giants star Mark Ingram after he failed to report to federal prison to begin serving nearly eight years for bank fraud and money laundering.
