Elon appoints library building committee members
The Town of Elon Board of Aldermen Tuesday voted to appoint five members to the town's new library building committee.
The members include Steve Trogden, Brad Moore, Rick Kiser and Judy Cobb, director of Alamance County Public Libraries. Beth Schmidt will serve as the committee's chair and Don Wagnoer and Town Manager Mike Dula will serve as ex-officio staff members.
The board also approved the 2009 Town of Elon holiday schedule and next year's Board of Aldermen meeting calendar.
Alderwoman Jo Grimley noted that an Elon University environmental studies class will be planting three trees at Morgan Place Park and that Elon's downtown will have lights and wreaths soon to celebrate the holidays.
Elon citizen Gene Grimley attended the meeting and submitted a letter to the board asking them to devote more attention to the issue of Elon University student parties, a problem he and two other residents mentioned at last week's agenda meeting.
