Celebrate Express to layoff more than 200
GREENSBORO - More than 200 workers will lose their jobs when Celebrate Express closes its Greensboro call center, administration office, distribution center and manufacturing and technology operations in 2009.
In a notice to the N.C. Department of Commerce, the company said it will close its call center Feb. 1 and lay off 65 workers.
Toward the end of February, the company will close the administration office and distribution center, accounting for 132 positions. On or before May 31, the company will cease operations in its manufacturing and technology operations, cutting 16 employees.
The closings at the plant, located at 488 Gallimore Dairy Road, are expected to be permanent.
Celebrate Express is an online and catalog retailer selling items for children's parties and costumes.
