Rockingham sheriff to collect food for Red Cross

WENTWORTH — The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office will collect grocery items for the Rockingham County chapter of the American Red Cross.

Anyone with food donations can come to 1088 N.C. 65 or give donations to deputies.

Food items include canned fruits and vegetables, juices, canned meats, canned and dry soups, sauces, pasta noodles, rice, dried beans and cereal. Toiletries include toilet paper, shampoo, soap, deodorant and toothpaste.

Fresh and frozen items including meat must be taken to the Red Cross office at 3692 N.C. in Reidsville.

The Rockingham County chapter of the Red Cross said that it provided 175 people with food this week and that its pantry is nearly empty.
