Guilford schools to return $2.8 million after state budget cuts

State budget cuts will require Guilford County Schools return $2.8 million.

School systems statewide will have to cut $58 million from their budgets because of the state cuts. Several area charter schools will also loses some state funding.

Gov. Mike Easley's office has asked the state Department of Pubic Instruction to cut about $119 million. The state office was able to cut about half that, passing the remaining $58 million on to the school systems.
