Greensboro-based RF Micro Devices Inc. said today that it has signed a 12-month, $1.4 million contract with the U.S. Department of Defense to develop Gallium Nitride technology and high-power RF solutions.
The contract is an extension to previous contracts with the Department of Defense. RF Micro stated in a news release that it expects to receive additional Department of Defense contract awards in 2009.
"We are very pleased to receive continued DoD support for our GaN high power RF technology targeting military and civilian radar systems and multi-band radios requiring wideband, high efficiency amplifiers up to 500 watts," said Jeff Shealy, vice president and general manager of RF Micro's Aerospace & Defense Business Unit.
