Two firms seek to build care facility

HIGH POINT — Two companies are bidding to start a six-bed intermediate care facility for the mentally retarded in Guilford County.

They are:

* VOCA Corp. North Carolina, which is doing business as Community Alternatives-North Carolina. It is proposing a $516,000 facility at 2309 Hemlock Drive in High Point.

* Residential Healthcare Affiliates of North Carolina MR is proposing a $650,000 facility at 1607 Bridges Drive in High Point.

The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services will hold a public hearing for these projects at 1 p.m. Dec. 16. The hearing will be in Room 152 of the Continuing Education Center at GTCC's Greensboro Campus on East Wendover Avenue.
