GREENSBORO - A 28-year-old man who was co-owner of Red Mike Grocery in Fisher Park died after he was shot during a robbery this morning.
Police responded to the convenience store at 600 North Elm St. after receiving a phone call from a customer at 9:40 a.m. Sunday.
Neighbors said they heard up to four gunshots.
The victim was Muhammad "Mike" Ali, according to Nikki Tipton, his fiancee.
He was taken to Moses Cone Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Greensboro police Capt. Janice Rogers said they are looking for two male suspects who were last seen running east on Fisher Avenue.
She described the first suspect as black, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 25 years old and and weighing 180 pounds. He wore all black clothing.
The second suspect was described as black, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, 175 pounds and 28 to 30 years old. He was wearing a gray and black shirt with a hood and blue jeans.
No arrests had been made as of early Sunday afternoon.
Investigators have roped off the parking lot and have closed one lane of traffic on Elm Street near its intersection with Fisher Avenue.
Police ask people with information to call Crimestoppers at 373-1000.
