High Point motorcyclist dies from injuries

WINSTON-SALEM - A 35-year-old motorcyclist who crashed into an SUV after running a red light died from his injuries today, police said.

According to Winston-Salem police, Terry Lynn Carmichael was traveling at a high rate of speed north on College Drive about 8 p.m. Wednesday when he ran a red light at Wise Avenue and crashed into a Chevrolet Suburban.

Carmichael was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center while the SUV driver was taken to High Point Regional Hospital.

On Thursday, Carmichael died.

The driver of the Suburban, whom police did not identify, was in stable condition. There were no passengers.

Police ask people with information about the wreck to call Traffic Supervisor Lt. Walter Heaviland at 887-7969.
