Break a record? Shoot, Guilford County voters are smashing it.
As of Wednesday evening, 103,110 have voted early. The previous early voting record, set in 2004, was 71,464 and fell earlier this week.
The Guilford County Board of Elections has seen 3,643 same-day registrations during the this year's early voting period, a time when someone can register and vote at once. To cast a ballot on Election Day, Nov. 4, voters must already be registered. That registration deadline passed earlier this month.
Early voting ends Saturday at 1 p.m. at these locations. The elections board launched a site with updated wait times for each, along with a poll locator where registered voters can enter their home address and find their polling location.
Statewide, 1.8 million of 6.1 million registered voters have cast ballots, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections, approximately one-third of total voters.
