WENTWORTH — Sen. Elizabeth Dole touted her leadership and experience during a rally here this morning and said her opponent, Kay Hagan, has "gone wobbly" on the major issues affecting North Carolina and the country.
Dole spoke to a crowd of about 100 at the Rockingham County Governmental Center.
Dole said she has taken a firm stance on issues such as illegal immigration, taxes and energy, while Hagan has refused to. Dole said Hagan has voted 30 times to raise taxes since she has been in the North Carolina Senate.
"I am for lowering your taxes," Dole told the crowd.
Dole said Hagan's energy plan called for no drilling. Dole is in favor of drilling.
"Folks, we need a comprehensive energy policy and we need it right now," Dole said.
Sen. Richard Burr accompanied Dole to Wednesday's rally. State Sen. Phil Berger and his son, Rockingham County District Attorney Phil Berger Jr., also attended the rally.
