A company that tracks foreclosure properties nationally reported today that the number for the third quarter in the Greensboro/High Point area was 1,106, up 191 percent from the same quarter a year ago.
The figure is up nearly 10 percent from the second quarter of this year, according to statistics from RealtyTrac.
Nationally, foreclosure filings -- which include default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions -- were reported on 765,558 properties during the third quarter, up more than 3 percent from the second quarter and up 71 percent from the third quarter of 2007.
In North Carolina, the foreclosure filings for the third quarter were 10,444, down slightly from the second quarter and up 38 percent from the third quarter of 2007.
