Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the vice presidential running mate of Republican John McCain, will appear at a rally in Elon today. Hank Williams Jr. is also expected to appear.

Later, she will attend a private fundraiser at the home of Louis DeJoy and Aldona Wos in Greensboro.

Where: Latham Park, Elon University campus
When: Gates will open at noon.
Parking: Firehouse Field on Williamson Avenue
Tickets: Distributed through campaign offices, including the Greensboro-High Point Victory Office. A spokeswoman on Wednesday said she doubted tickets would be available today. Entry is first-come, first-served, and holding a ticket does not guarantee entry into the rally.

Early voting begins

You can cast ballots in the election beginning today.

Guilford County: Early voting will begin at 8 a.m. in Guilford County at two locations.

• Old County Courthouse, 301 W. Market St., Greensboro
• Washington Terrace Park, 101 Gordon St., High Point

Rockingham County: Early voting will begin at 8 a.m. today at the Governmental Center, 371 N.C. 65, Suite 208, Wentworth.
