None - this is the first time I have run for an elected office.

Other relevant experience (boards and commissions)
Planning Board since 2001. I am currently serving my 3rd consecutive term as chairman of that Board. Additionally, I am presenting serving on the Board of Directors of Teen Challenge and Aldersgate Housing, as well as on the board of Trustees at my church.

Family
I have been married to my wife, Sherry, for 42 years. We have one daughter, a son-in-law and 2 granddaughters. Both Sherry and I have family roots in Guilford county going back to the mid 1800's.

Why have you chosen to run for this office?
I was born and raised here and I love the area. I have chosen to open and operate a business here and raise my family here. I want Guilford Co. to be a prosperous and safe place for families to live and grow. I believe I have the experience and tenacity to help our county meet the future successfully.

What distinguishes you most from your opponent?
I am a businessman. I know the responsibility of making decisions that influence the lives of others. I am responsible to the folks who work at my business to meet my payroll. Their families depend on it. I also have the courage to stand up for what I believe is right. Anyone who has served with me can verify that fact.

Key qualifications you would bring to the job:
I know the area, I have business experience and I have a proved record of service to the community through my work on the Planning Board. I have the courage to stand up for what I believe in and I believe I represent the family values that are a concern to our citizens. In the seven years that I have served on the Planning Board I have a perfect attendance record. I believe this exemplifies my commitment. I do not owe my vote to any PAC or special interest group - it belongs to the citizens of our county and I am willing to listen to their concerns and do all I can to serve them.
