Why have you chosen to run for this office?
We continue to have poor representation in Raleigh. We pay too many new fees and taxes. There is no honesty and integrity from our representatives. Rule of law is overlooked in favor of political expediency.

What distinguishes you most from your opponent?
I have real business experience. I am the common man who will see what most North Carolinian's want. I won't be told by my party or those in leadership how I should vote and what I can offer for my neighbors.

What key qualifications would you bring to the job?
Real life budgetary experience, energy to make things happen, and a hard work ethic that is needed. I have served on many community organizations like the Northeast Fire Dept. Board of directors, as treasurer for the last 5 years, and the Guilford County Parks and Recreation Commission for the last 6 years. I will be able to get legislation that most folks want introduced like the Protest Petition.

What is the most pressing need in your district?
Business recruitment and encouraging new job creation, ensuring we have strong personal property rights, ie. working against forced annexations.

List your top three campaign issues and your stances on those issues (briefly, please).
Honesty and integrity from our representative, by speaking out against the law breakers like Speaker Jim Black and Rep. Wright. Taxes and fees are going up and are too high already, capping the gas tax was too slow in coming, extending the back to school sales tax holiday is something I have pushed for the last 6 years. Gas and fuel prices are soaring, families are finding it hard to get to work and afford fuel and food or heat their homes. Following the Rule of Law, illegal's are just that, they are here illegally. There should not be places for illegal aliens in our colleges and universities.

Did ethics reform in the legislature go far enough? Why or why not?
No, there is still too much power vested in just a few leaders and the opportunity to do things without the consent of the body or the citizens be damned. Certificates of Participation increase debt without citizen's consent. Let's not forget Gov. Easley and his wife going on extravagant trips at taxpayer expense.

How should the state deal with the problems with mental health reform?
We should provide care for those that truly need it. We should also use the other many resources available to help all the folks that have mental health issues, from our churches, families, and research being done at our state universities and colleges, and private care facilities.

Where do you stand on the governor's proposal for managing state water use in a crisis?
I think it's very late in coming. It should be promoting more citizen involvement. The state should be promoting many ways of conserving the life giving resource that will only be getting shorter in supply.

Did the state House act correctly in expelling Thomas Wright and why or why not?
Yes. I wish our representative had had the courage to speak out publicly against this convicted felon, instead she only wanted to slap his wrist, and only voted for expulsion when the wrist slap failed. This also goes to her lack of integrity of never repudiating former speaker Jim Black. She continually fails to see the crimes some of her friends are committing and once its public won't say its wrong or that even it's a criminal act.

Do you favor an independent, nonpartisan redistricting commission? Why or why not?
Yes. The current leadership for more than 60 years has tried every action they could to remain in power. Their path to make this happen has been some of the worst redistricting in the country. The redistricting that has been done is to only benefit those currently in office, and forget about what makes sense for the citizens. A truly non-partisan commission would look at shaping districts that are compact and would represent its citizens, and not keeping politicians in office. That's not to say it will ever be non-partisan. If we follow the state constitution we don't need a new commission on redistricting.
