The Wake Forest women's golf team came into the second round of the Lady Tar Heel Invitational tied for first with Virginia. After a season-low 291 Saturday, the Demon Deacons opened up an 11-stroke lead with one round remaining.

Virginia wound up carding a 302.

"We played consistent today and had another very good round," said Wake head coach Dianne Dailey. "This is how we wanted to be playing from the start of the year. Everyone played well and it was just a very solid effort today."

Natalie Sheary had six birdies in the second round, posting 35 on both the front and the back nines to card a 2-under par 70. It was her lowest round of the season and the lowest since a final round 70 at last spring's ACC Championship.

"Natalie is hitting the ball so well that she is giving herself a number of good chances for birdie," Dailey said. "She made some really good putts today, and she is playing with a lot of confidence right now."
