ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Served as law clerk to Judge J. Dickson Phillips Jr. of the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals for one year after his graduation from law school.

While in N.C. Senate sponsored legislation to expand North Carolina's domestic violence law and helped to craft predatory lending legislation.

  • Opposes long-term occupation of Iraq, favors withdrawal as soon as possible.
  • Has been working to craft federal predatory lending legislation and has pushed for a bill that would allow bankruptcy judges to rework first mortgages.

After a congressional trip to the South Pole, Miller said: "I thought, ‘Every other politician who thinks the world is revolving around them is wrong. It actually revolves around me.'" ... Miller was recruited as a possible challenger to U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole but decided to run to keep his U.S. House seat.
