GREENSBORO — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice presidential nominee, is expected to headline a fund-raiser here Oct. 16, according to organizers.
Spokesmen with the campaign of Palin and presidential nominee John McCain said they had no other details.
But organizers say the event will be at the home of Louis DeJoy, CEO of logistics company New Breed, and former ambassador Aldona Wos in the Irving Park neighborhood.
“I can confirm that he (DeJoy) has Sarah Palin coming in on the 16th, in the late afternoon,” said Joe Hauck, who works with DeJoy.
President Bush was scheduled to headline a fundraiser hosted by DeJoy on Tuesday but stayed in Washington to deal with the financial crisis.
McCain last visited North Carolina during a two-day swing that concluded on Primary Day. His visit to Winston-Salem was largely overshadowed by the ongoing nomination fight between Democratic nominee Barack Obama and challenger Hillary Rodham Clinton. Palin has not visited the state since being picked to run with McCain.
Fundraisers at the DeJoy-Wos house have been private and closed to the media and uninvited guests. It’s unclear whether Palin will appear at any public events.
