GREENSBORO - The police department is seeking reimbursement from Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign for the expense of providing security for his recent rally downtown.
Sgt. K.M. Moore of the Greensboro Police Department's resource management division said the city occasionally seeks reimbursement from events that require heavy security.
A representative of the Obama-Biden campaign told police at the rally Saturday that the campaign would reimburse the expense of security, Moore said.
The department hasn't finished adding up how much it cost to bring in the 210 off-duty officers who worked the rally, but Moore said he expected the total to be between $60,000 and $80,000.
