BURLINGTON -- Triad residents who want to learn how to incorporate sustainable practices at their homes or businesses are encouraged to attend the first Piedmont Green Gala being held at TS Designs on Saturday.
Eric Henry, company president, said he expects at least 200 people to attend the event and he hopes families and small business owners leave with ideas on how to better support local economies.
"For us to address all these problems we face in the world it will take us reconnecting to our community," Henry said.
The free event will feature displays of methods and products that offer a low environmental footprint as well as local, organic, and grass-fed foods, beverages and music. TS Designs will also celebrate the opening of a retail biodiesel station and newly installed solar array that produces 8.6 kilowatts per hour of electricity.
TS Designs is a 30-year-old screen printing business that prints and dyes 100 percent organic cotton, U.S.-made T-shirts. The company maintains a garden for its 35 employees and partners with Piedmont Biofuels and a local food cooperative.
