GREENSBORO - Downtown Greensboro Inc. handed out some awards and tributes Thursday at its annual meeting at the Empire Room.

Ray Gibbs, former DGI president, received the Ed Kitchen Leadership Award, which is named for Greensboro's former city manager. Gibbs, who resigned last year, led the downtown revitalization effort for eight years.

John Lomax, a developer and builder, won the Person of the Year award for his long support of the center city.

DGI also paid tribute to Jim Roach, a board member who died Sept. 9. Roach, 50, was president and CEO of Roach Realty and a strong supporter of downtown.
