GREENSBORO — A Harvard professor and a CNN legal analyst — both of whom write for The New Yorker magazine — will speak here within the next week.
Jill Lepore will lecture on paper ballots at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Patricia A. Sullivan Science Building on the UNCG campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Lepore is a history professor at Harvard University and a regular contributor to The New Yorker. Her more recent book, "New York Burning," was a finalist for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize. Lepore will deliver the annual Richard S. Wells Lecture at UNCG.
Jeffrey Toobin will speak at 7 p.m. Monday at the Carolina Theatre in downtown Greensboro as part of Elon University's Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series. His talk is free to the public, but people must register in advance by calling 279-9275.
Toobin is both a legal analyst for CNN and a staff writer for The New Yorker. His latest book, "The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court," delves into the historical, political and personal inner workings of the U.S. Supreme Court. Toobin will be talking about his new book.
