Morale isn't the only thing Grimsley head football coach
Mark Saunders is hoping heals after his team's 40-0 defeat to Dudley on
Thursday night. Starting quarterback Josh Patterson will miss at least
four weeks after separating his right (throwing) shoulder late in the
game, and his backup, sophomore tailback Lashawn Brown, could miss next
week's game after reaggravating his sprained ankle. The next man in
line for the Whirlies would be James Scales, who has been lining up at
wide receiver.
Patterson, a senior, said he got hit while throwing late in the fourth quarter and fell awkwardly on the shoulder. He didn't think the injury was bad at first, but he could barely move his arm when he woke up Friday. It's in a sling now, and Patterson said doctors told him he can't resume activity with it for at leat four weeks.
Linebacker Andre Oliver also suffered a concussion and likely won't play at Andrews on Friday.
"It'll get better," Saunders said. "It better get better."
