THOMASVILLE — The theft of copper wiring from Thomasville High School's football stadium led to the postponement of the school's game against Davie County on Friday night.

When crews went to turn the lights on at city-owned Cushwa Stadium before the 7:30 p.m. kickoff, they realized that someone had cut and stolen 20 to 30 copper wires from a breaker box, said Woody Huneycutt, Thomasville's athletics director.

As a result, the game had to be postponed until 7 p.m. Monday.

"Unfortunately, things happen," Huneycutt said. "One or two people can mess things up for everyone."

Fans who kept their ticket stub will be admitted to Monday's game. The school issued refunds to fans who requested it.
