KEY QUESTIONS FOR N.C. A&T
What would constitute progress for a program that hasn't won a game since October 2005?
Successfully finishing half or more of the games in which they hold a second-half lead. And there's evidence to suggest the Aggies will be competitive enough to have such opportunities. Repairing this program isn't a two- or three-year mission. Patience is still necessary.
Will Michael Ferguson rush for 907 or more yards and break A&T's career record?
Not if the offense works as it's supposed to work. If new coordinator John McKenzie's plan succeeds, the Aggies will complete intermediate passes in a style similar to the West Coast offense. That's conducive to balance, but not to a 1,000-yard rusher.
How will the program honor Chad Wiley, the offensive lineman who died of apparent heat-related illness in May?
Players will wear a patch on their uniforms, and the media guide has been dedicated to Wiley's memory. The Aggies have maintained the tragedy has united them with a focus.
Who's the best bet for team MVP?
LB Andre Thornton is a preseason All-MEAC choice who never stops pursuing the ball. He has made 145 tackles in his first two seasons and is the most experienced Aggie.
