Flooding forces buses to alter routes

Today's heavy rains are wreaking havoc on Greensboro Transit Authority buses and vans, which have been delayed by flooding that has made some bus stops unreachable.

Flooded roads have delayed GTA buses and vans and, in some cases, forced them to detour from their normal routes, said GTA spokesman Kevin Elwood.

"Some bus stops may be unreachable, and temporary stops will be used," Elwood said.

Elwood said all three GTA services are experiencing difficulties and delays, including regular bus service, the HEAT shuttle network for college and university students, and SCAT vans for disabled riders.

GTA and HEAT riders can get current information about those services at 335-6499. SCAT users should call 333-6589
