RALEIGH (AP)- Democrat Barack Obama says he will "need" a win in North Carolina in November.

The Democratic presidential candidate told supporters in Raleigh on Tuesday night that they need to fight to make sure America gets back on track.

The Illinois senator is trying to compete in North Carolina, where no Democratic presidential candidate has won since 1976.

Obama highlighted his economic policies, arguing that ending the Iraq war could help provide billions for investment in the United States.

And he said the nation can't drill its way out of its oil problem and needs to invest in alternative sources, such as solar, wind and electric cars.

The North Carolina Republican party shot back with a Web video, saying his tax plan would injure small business and claiming he doesn't understand North Carolina's economy.
