Update: Body found on vacant lot along High Point Road
GREENSBORO - The Guilford County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a homeless man whose body was found today outside a former furniture store building on High Point Road.
Shortly after 11 a.m., a worker with Duke Energy found the body of Michael Keith Cooper, 50 outside the old Ethan Allen furniture store at 4710 High Point Road, sheriff's officials said.
Early indications are there were no signs of foul play in Cooper's death, but authorities hope to know more after an autopsy scheduled Wednesday.
"We're not sure how or why he died at this point," said Detective K.R. Jones said.
Detectives said Cooper was last seen at some stores in the area about 8 a.m. Monday.
Coopers's last known address was 712 West Side Drive Extension in Lexington.
