GREENSBORO — A man was wounded Thursday while trying to prevent people from breaking into an SUV.

Greensboro police said Ross Daniel Bolton was shot in one arm and his stomach at 5 a.m. Thursday. A police news release did not list Bolton's age or address. He was taken to Moses Cone Hospital, and his condition was unavailable today.

Police said Bolton and several friends were sitting on the balcony of an apartment at 3701 Cotswold Terrace when they saw two men trying to break into a white SUV. Bolton and his friends went to confront the would-be SUV burglars, who ran away.

Moments later, police said, an older-model white Ford Taurus sedan pulled up, and the two burglary suspects got in. One of the suspects fired several shots, two of which hit Bolton. Bolton's friends were unhurt.

Police have made no arrests and were unable to provide a description of the suspects.

Anyone with information about this incident can call Crime Stoppers at 373-1000.
