GREENSBORO — A local man is in critical condition at Moses Cone Hospital after he was hit by a car while crossing a street Wednesday.

Greensboro police said Darrell Antwon Hudson ran out in front of a car at 5:27 p.m. Wednesday while crossing West Florida Street at Hudgins Drive.

Police said Linda Spinks Sparrow of Kernersville was driving east on Florida Street in a Toyota sedan when she hit Hudson. A police report shows that Sparrow was driving no more than 28 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone and that she tried to stop to avoid hitting the man.

Police said Hudson failed to watch for vehicle traffic, and Sparrow was not cited in the crash.
