Guilford moves to 'moderate drought' status

Thursday, August 7
(updated 2:12 pm)

Guilford County has moved out of "severe drought" status in the latest weekly report from the U.S. Drought Monitor.

The listing released today now has Guilford County in "moderate drought" status. Last week's drought map had the southwest corner of the county in severe drought.

Davidson County and Forsyth County remain in "severe drought" status.

Forecasters said recently that August will be key month in determining how bad the drought situation could become.
