Arnold Palmer, Richard Petty to attend Wyndham opening
Arnold Palmer and Richard Petty, two of the greatest legends in their sports, will attend the Wyndham Championship opening ceremony Wednesday at Sedgefield Country Club. The event begins at 5 p.m. and is open to the public.
"Any tournament director is always looking for the ‘wow' factor sometime during the event," tournament director Mark Brazil said.
Both Palmer and Petty are celebrating 50th anniversaries this year. Palmer won his first green jacket at The Masters in 1958, the same year Petty began racing in NASCAR. Palmer and Petty will join defending Wyndham champion Brandt Snedeker at the opening ceremony.
Snedeker will hit the ceremonial first tee shot officially bringing the Wyndham Championship home to Sedgefield Country Club. The Wyndham runs from Aug. 14-17.
