High Point police seeking community help

( 10:09 am)

HIGH POINT — Police continue to seek the public's help in solving two crimes that left one man dead and a second man in a coma.

High Point police and High Point Communities Against Violence will hold a community briefing at 6 p.m. Thursday in the police department's training room. After the briefing, officers and Communities Against Violence members will fan out in the areas around both incidents in hopes of gaining new information about the cases.

On July 25, police found the body of a 26-year-old Pleasant Garden man in a vehicle in the 1700 block of Oberlin Drive. Arthur William Mastin Jr. died from a gunshot wound. Police later arrested Cameron Delaney Bridges, 18, of 816 Rosecrest Drive in High Point. He remains in the Guilford County jail in High Point without bond on a first degree murder charge.

On July 27, Wang Xing, 39, was found in the back of the Golden Dragon restaurant at 274 Eastchester Drive. He had been beaten severely after delivering an order at the Raintree Apartments on nearby Northpoint Avenue.

Police said the order came into the restaurant at 10 p.m. July 26. Police were not called to the restaurant until nearly noon the next day. No arrests have been made in this case.

Any community groups that want to take part, or anyone who has questions about the Violent Crime Response can call Lt. Steve Myers at the High Point Police Department at 887-7927.
