Schools face off at golf tournament
Get ready for the first-ever Southwest High versus Ragsdale High Rivalry Golf Tournament Aug. 29 at the Jamestown Golf Course.
The tournament is organized by the athletics booster clubs of Southwest and Ragsdale high schools.
"This tournament is open to alumni, friends, parents - anyone who would love to get involved and help out their schools," said David Schoepske, a former Ragsdale student and member of the school's booster club.
Golfers can participate in the morning tournament at 8 a.m. or the second round at 1:30 p.m.
The cost for each player is $65, which covers the green fee, driving range balls, breakfast snack, lunch, gift bags and beverages.
Registration forms are available at the Jamestown Town Hall and Jamestown Golf Course.
Schoepske said people can also contact Steve Lenio of the Southwest High Booster Club at 345-0841.
Registration forms are due by Aug. 21.
A trophy will be awarded to the overall winning school and first-place through third-place teams will win monetary prizes.
Schoepske said money raised at the tournament will go to improvement projects at each school.
"It is a friendly rivalry; everyone in this area is so close. I believe that this is going to be a lot fun," Schoepske said.
