Deli giving patrons way to help charities
For nine weeks, Harrison's Deli in High Point will be holding a fundraiser for charity.
Every Thursday (except Aug. 28) from July 24 until Sept. 18, a local celebrity will try to raise money for his or her charity.
At the end of the nine weeks, the celebrity who received the most contributions will win all the money raised for the charity of his or her choice.
The deli has dropped bottled beer prices to $2 to help the fundraiser.
Harrison's Deli, at 1807 North Main Street, High Point, has been open for one year.
"To be a successful business, you have to give back to the community that supports you everyday," said owner and High Point local Greg Stephens.
That's why he's been a part of recent fundraisers for groups such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and local churches.
"People remember you for what you do, not what you say you are going to do," Stephens said.
The July celebrities - Bert Hayes, Mike Fenn and Alli Caldwell - selected the Multiple Sclerosis Society as their cause.
The remaining schedule is:
Aug. 7: Ed Price Reality (Miracle League)
Aug. 14: YMCA
Aug. 21: Contagious Lifestyle
Sept. 4: Tammy Stout (Breast Cancer)
Sept. 11: Bank of NC
Sept. 18: Gary Harris and Karen Morrison (Epilepsy Foundation)
Harrison's is open until 10 p.m. Thursday nights.
