Two recently released reports full of stats are now online for the good folks of Guilford County to peruse. Both are available at www.co.guilford.nc.us
The 2006-07 Citizen Performance Report shows survey info from a group of regular residents (and 87 percent of respondents feel that life is good here!), along with figures such as child-support payment levels, incentives offered to businesses and crime rates/public safety.
Then, there's the Service Efforts & Accomplishments Report. A dense, 105-page document in eight chapters covers embracing diversity, creating a more prosperous community, ensuring public safety and others.
Going back to the first report, that will be the subject of several forums, where you could win a $50 gas card for attending and giving your feedback. We know that government meeting stuff can be dry. But a gas card?
Which, if you live within five miles of the meeting locations, and walk to the forum, may well be worth it.
Each forum will be at 7 p.m.:
Aug. 5: Macedonia Family Resource Center, 401 Lake Ave., High Point.
Aug. 6: Oak Ridge Town Hall, 8315 Linville Road, Oak Ridge.
Aug. 12: Greensboro Public Library, 219 N. Church St., Greensboro.
Aug. 13: Guilford County Center barn kitchen, 3309 Burlington Road, Greensboro.
Information: 641-3242.
Next council meeting moved to Monday
Just a reminder to those of you who are City Council watchers: The council's upcoming regular meeting is on a strange day of the week.
The next council meeting will be on a Monday, Aug. 4. The meeting has been moved from the traditional time, Tuesday evening, because that date conflicts with National Night Out. The start time and place, 5:30 p.m. and the Melvin Municipal Office Building, remain the same.
Compiled by staff writers Amanda Lehmert and Gerald Witt.
Not all of the newspaper's content appears online.
