Mental Health Association gives end-of-year honors
The Mental Health Association in Greensboro honored six members of the community recently for contributions to the mental health field.
The nonprofit association, an affiliate of Mental Health America and a partner with United Way, gave out the awards during its End-of-Year Board Celebration.
The association's goals include conducting programs to promote better mental health, supporting people with mental illness and reducing the stigma associated with mental illness.
The honored leaders are:
• Neil M. Belenky, retiring head of the United Way of Greater Greensboro, who received the Mental Health Champion Award;
• Carol McKeithan Whitley, director of Hillcrest House, who received the Mental Health Professional Award of Excellence;
• Louann A. Clarke, a paralegal at Conner Gwyn Schenck PLLC, who received the President's Award;
• Andrés Mosquera, who received the Outstanding Volunteer Award for his work with the Latino Mental Health Campaign; and
• Morgan Chick, a Guilford College graduate from Maine, and Jessica Mounier, a High Point University graduate from New Jersey, who both received Outstanding Intern Awards.
