Four Greensboro swimmers will represent North Carolina at the eight-state Southern Zone Swimming Championships in Atlanta from July 29-Aug. 2. The N.C. Zone Team also will participate in the Southern Zone Open Water Championship on Aug. 3 at Lake Lanier. The top swimmers in each age group were identified by a N.C. Swimming point system that compares the athletes' individual times from last weekend's North Carolina 14-and-under Long Course State Championships in Charlotte to national time standards. The Greensboro's swimmers named to the state team are: Isaac Klinger, 12, Greensboro Community YMCA (GCY); Stuart Moffitt, 12, GCY; Natalie Labonge, 12, Greensboro Swimming Association; and Hannah Martin, 14, GSA.
A total of eight Greensboro swimmers won medals last weekend at the North Carolina 14-and-under Long Course State Championships. They are: Elise Costa (STAR Aquatics), 13-14 girls, 3rd in 100-meter backstroke; Isaac Klinger (Greensboro Community YMCA), 11-12 boys, 1st in 400 individual medley (meet record), 100 butterfly (meet record), 200 butterfly (meet record), 50 backstroke (meet record), 50 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 200 IM, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle; Natalie Labonge (Greensboro Swimming Association), 11-12 girls, first in 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly, 2nd in 100 freestyle, 50 backstroke and 100 butterfly, 3rd in 100 backstroke; Corinne Martin (STAR), 10-and-under girls, second in 50 freestyle, 3rd in 50 backstroke; Hannah Martin (GSA), 13-14 girls, 2nd in 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke; Stuart Moffitt (GCY), 11-12 boys, 1st in 50 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke, 2nd in 100 breaststroke; Joe Riley (STAR), 13-14 boys, 1st in 50 freestyle; Jake Skigen (GSA), 10-and-under boys, third in 100 breaststroke. GOLF
WAKE FOREST: Robin Walton, has joined the Wake Forest women's golf staff as an assistant coach after an eight-year stint at Florida. Walton, Washington graduate, was this year's National Golf Coaches Association Assistant Coach of the Year. She also played for 21 years on the LPGA tour.

NORTH CAROLINA: The North Carolina men's basketball team donated $110,000 to eight different charitable organizations from funds raised through the sale of autographed basketballs and the team's annual holiday clinic. Over the last five years since Roy Williams became UNC's head coach, the Tar Heels have contributed more than $400,000 to local groups.
