Eat spaghetti and save the lives of pets
Eating spaghetti can help the Greensboro Fire Department save the lives of pets at house fires.
Friends of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of the Triad is hosting a Spaghetti Dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 2 at St. Francis Church, 3506 Lawndale Drive.
The dinner is $10 and will include spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert and iced tea or coffee.
Participants can opt to have their dinner at St. Francis Church or have the meals delivered to your car.
You'll also get the satisfaction of knowing you helped the Greensboro Fire Department pay for 25 pet oxygen masks to assist with rescuing pets.
Any additional funds will go to the CARES program, an SPCA fund that provides financial aid for domestic animals in emergencies, said Linda LeJeune, SPCA vice president and officer. Members of the Greensboro Fire Department and the American Red Cross will be on hand to demonstrate the masks and to provide information on pet first aid.
For information and to purchase tickets online, go to www.triadspcaevents.net/SpaghettiDinner.html.
LeJeune said you can also help by signing up to sell tickets or volunteering for the dinner.
For information, call LeJeune at 707-6347 or the SPCA at 375-3222.
